Sat 27th July- Pride Party in association with Fetch-Open Norwich

Pride comes but once a year- well actually chances are you can’t get past the months of June and July without coming across Pride on your Instagram feed. This week it’s Norwich’s turn to host there 11th Pride season and march and what a pride season it has been. We’ve had gimme gimme gimme  writer Jonathan Harvey in talks with the cities own playwright James McDermott. You also still have the chance to get a history of pride with Matthew Todd who wrote the Elton John memoir Straight Jacket check out https://www.waterstones.com/events/an-evening-of-pride-with-matthew-todd/norwich-castle-street for details.

Yet no pride is complete without a party and as pride gets bigger and better every year the choices become endless with The Castle, Outside Bar, Fetch and The Loft hosting pride parties. Yet promising to be the biggest party of the Weekend is Open Norwich’s after party. Promising confetti, an Absolute cocktail bar, street food and much more.  Yet what makes Open so much more appealing is the acts that will be taking us through Pride evening we have Guilty Pleasures- DJ Collective, cabaret performer/ Britains got talent semi finalist Danny Beard and drag double act The Squirrels (who incidentally I saw killing it at St George Theatre in Sinderella in January). Yet the headline act this year is none other than Peppermint from Ru Pauls Drag Race. Known for her killer lip syncs and fresh from her Broadway debut she promises to put on a show Norwich Pride won’t forget anytime soon.

As a spearhead of the trans community and given some of the issues facing trans people in various parts of the world it’s never more important than to celebrate people like Peppermint in our city. So if your ready to party, celebrate 50 years since stonewall and enjoy some incredible entertainment.
