Week Commencing 29th July

Get it Booked

Thurs 1st August- Trinity the Tuck- Waterfront Norwich

I will get to Trinity in a moment. But first…. can we please talk about how great Slay Presents are. A year ago Norfolk hadn’t seen hide or hair of a RuPaul Drag Queen, yet since last September we have had Shangela, Jynx, Willam, Aquaria, Alaska, Sharon Needles, Latrice Royale and Manilla all visit out fair city. Along the way we have also been introduced to Rhea Litre, Rujazzle, Asia Thorn, C J Banks and Alfie Ordinary (please bring him back). This is all thanks to Slay presents and they still remain the only production company who continually bring the Rupaul Drag Race tours to our city. I can’t wait to see what they do once the UK version of Drag Race airs.

Yet this week we have the incomparable Trinity the Tuck visiting the Waterfront, a queen who first came to our attention in season 9 of Rupauls Drag Race as a pageant queen who on screen blossomed into a fully rounded entertainer. Sadly she lost Season 9 to Sasha Velour but she came back to show us  what she was made of in Allstar’s she finally left with a crown. She can dance, she can sing, she can do comedy and of course there is that tuck!

The event will be hosted by Slay Queen Rujazzle who has been popular on many previous tours. We also have support from Frans Gender and the ever popular Asia Thorne. The evening promises to be a night of fabulous entertainment so would be my pick of the week.

One To Watch

Fri 2nd August- Sat 3rd August- Pool (No Water)- Playhouse, Norwich

This week we have the Theatre Royals Young Actors company and they are presenting the play be Mark Ravenhill. The plays premise is that a famous artist invites her old friends over to her new home but suffers a horrific accident. Since the play first performed at the Drum Theatre, Plymouth in 2006 it’s known to be hypnotic and razor sharp, so will be interesting to see what this young cast bring to the play. The play explores the ideals of art and friendship and explores the world of envy. What makes this production more unique is the script isn’t assigned to particular characters but set as a collection of seething experiences of guilt and jealousy, making each new production more unique and open to interpretation. This promises to be something a little bit different at the theatre and nit to be missed.

Worth a mention

Mon 29th July- New Writing Night- Seagull Theatre, Lowestoft

For something a little bit different we have New Writers Night at the Seagull Theatre. Over the last year the theatre has hosted new writers workshop and this Monday they will have an evening of original work created by the participants. What can I tell you well- it will be something never seen before and guarantees to be interesting. The other thing is it’s free entry so if your in the mood for a night of theatre and something totally unexpected this should be the night for you.
