Week commencing 16th September

Get it Booked

Wed 18th September- My Kind of Michael- Norwich Arts Centre

So this is a really great week for Norfolk and Suffolk theatre so it’s been really tough trying to narrow this down to just three shows to recommend. Yet for our regular readers I’m sure your getting used to my occasional off the wall choices and this is where we find this weeks Get it Booked Choice.  As the show I’m personally most looking forward to is this heartfelt tribute to Michael Barrymore.

Brought to us by Nick Cassenbaum who brought Bubble Schmeisis to us in 2017 is back with his tribute to his childhood hero. This promises to be a unique telling of Nick’s childhood interwoven with Barrymore’s rise and fall. The show promises music, comedy and of course plenty of Micheal Barrymore catchphrases.

The show which was at the Edinburgh fringe festival in 2018 moves between narrative and game show letting the audience get to play 90’s TV classics like “This is Your Life.” So you have a subtle hint that there may be some audience participation involved. The Art Centre continues to bring us some really amazing stuff and this show is definitely worth some Wednesday night attention.

One to Watch

Fri 20th Sept- Sat 28th Sept- Much Ado About Nothing- Maddermarket Theatre

Shakespeare seems to be taking over the region at the minute we have the Tempest (incidentally my favourite Shakespeare play) presented by Fabba over in Great Yarmouth, and this very play was put on at The Seagull in Lowestoft just last week. Yet anyone who knows the Norwich Players will know they will definitely bring Much Ado About Nothing to life.

The farcical Shakespeare play that shows that whilst lots has changed since the 16th century love is still never simple. In this play seeing the cast falling in and out of love and then everyone gets married and we can only wait to see how it turns out!

Worth a Mention

Mon 16- Wed 18th Sept- Tape Face- Norwich Playhouse

As always this is worth more than a mention, however tickets are selling fast to this one. If you have not come across Tape Face where have you been. It is exactly as it sounds a man with tape on his face. He made it to the final of Season 11 Americas Got Talent. He has spent the last three years in residency in Harrah’s in Las Vegas and he puts on a hell of show. This is a brand new show and we in Norfolk are privileged to have it right here at the playhouse. Could I fangirl anymore!

Also going to mention Kinky Boots opens this week and so jealous of anyone who has tickets it’s an amazing show only chosen not to mention as there are so few tickets left, however there are a few so definitely worth a look! https://secure.theatreroyalnorwich.co.uk/Online/default.asp?doWork::WScontent::loadArticle=Load&BOparam::WScontent::loadArticle::article_id=0B571C2C-CA09-4383-9BE4-CFF9794E4DDF&sessionlanguage=&SessionSecurity::linkName=
