Friday 15th November- the Affair- Seafull Theatre, Lowestoft

So a quieter week ahead in the region and still some amazing entertainment to take in around the region. Starting with this comedy visiting the Seagull Theatre in Lowestoft. The Affair presented by Gibbons and Gaulier is a new play which promises to give you a good giggle. Introducing classic comedy elements including clown, bouffon and slapstick. It also aims to be an uplifting experience exploring the world of relationships.

The story follows Gustavo as he works through his to do list preparing to ask a very important question. After his love interest arrives for a romantic evening the evening gets disturbed by a knock at the door and all characters find themselves questioning their sanity. The highs and lows of relationships are explored from three different points of view making for a fun night out.

Gibbons and Gaulier come highly recommended with the likes of Ronnie Scott’s jazz club art director describing them as glorious and original. The company founded in 2015 specialises in theatre with the spirit of the clown and melodrama. The Affair is the second production they have written, directed, produced and performed following The Tramps. Either way there is nowhere else I would rather be than The Seagull Theatre this Friday night!!

One to Watch

Wednesday 13th November- The Remains of Logan Dankworth- Norwich Arts Centre

So this week in Norwich we are incredibly excited to have wordsmith, poet, theatre maker Luke Wright debut his brand new show The Remains of Logan Dankworth at the Art Centre. The series of monologues tells the story of Logan a columnist and twitter warrior  as the EU referendum looms and he wants to be involved in the political battle.  At the same time Logan’s wife wants to leave London so tensions rise at home and across the country.

For those who are not aware of Luke he was a founder member of Aisle 16 the poetry collective that shook up spoken word in the early 00’s. He has published two poetry collections and won the best pamphlet award at the Saboteur Awards this year for his pamphlet After Engine Trouble. This political play looks at trust and privilege in the times of Brexit and we are fortunate to be the region catching it’s debut.

When Jo’s mum Helen runs off with a car salesman, Jo takes up with a sailor who wants to marry her. Art student Geof tries to guide Jo until Helen returns and the relationships un-ravel.
