Wed 4th December- A Christmas Carol- Seagull Theatre, Lowestoft

Tues 4th Dec- Thurs 19th December- Biddy’s Christmas Carol- Biddy’s Tearoom Norwich

So we have reached that special time of year and what better way to celebrate than going and seeing the Charles Dickens classic live on stage. In this adaption presented by theatre company The Keepers Daughter having just 2 performers on stage will bring the story to life in a unique way not seen anywhere else.

We all know the story of course heartless business tycoon scrooge abuses his fellow man and refuses to help out even when he can, is visited by three ghosts during the night who show him the errors of his ways. He wakes in the morning to the relief that he is alive and embraces Christmas and all the people in his life.

The Keepers daughter actually have 2 productions of this on in the region this week. On Wednesday we have The Seagull Theatre taking on the tour production. For those more Norwich based Biddy’s Tea Room is turned into a fringe theatre with a residency of the production with various performances over the next three weeks. Either production of choice this is a great way to see in the festive season.

One to Watch

Thurs 5th Dec- Pony Up Presents Stealing Sheep- Norwich Arts Centre

So now we have covered Christmas we can move onto business as usual, and I am excited for this bands performance this week at Norwich Arts Centre. Firstly because there new album Big Wows is amazing personal highlight being Show Love. Secondly because this is a really exciting band the vocals are stunning and I cannot wait to hear them live.

Not sure why but I seem to see them as some funkier version of Warpaint, but where as Warpaint never seem to embrace melody or pop music, Stealing Sheep seem to embrace it, hug it and turn it into  bold colourful pop music the likes of which gets you excited and gives you that hope that even with technology modern day pop stars may move back to a mix of melodies and care-free abandon. However for a slice of pop heaven get yourself down to the arts centre this week.

Worth a Mention

Tues 3rd  Dec- Thurs 5th Dec- Glyndebourne L’Elisir d’amore- Norwich Theatre Royal

I was lucky enough a few years ago, to discover the joy that is opera and I can’t begin to explain how happy I am that this week Glyndebourne present not 1, not 2 but 3 different productions at the premier theatre this week. For those worry that they won’t understand don’t worry there are subtitles available (just check your seat will be able to see them). Even if your seat can’t see the subtitles you can still sit back and absorb the culture. I truly believe opera can be good for everyone so get out and see some whilst it’s in our city.
